Assignment 1: Bounce Flash
Working with bounce flash was a fun experience. I got to learn about how to work an on camera flash, and play with the settings on it. I enjoyed going around Moore Hall and exploring all the different places where having a flash would make the photo better. It was a learning curve to figure out the correct settings for each scene, but as class went on, figuring out which settings worked became easier and easier. Extreme bounce was harder to grasp than regular bounce was. You really had to experiment with your settings to figure out what works and what doesn’t.
In the photos below, one is without the flash, and one is with. You can see a huge difference on how the subject looks in the photo. Without flash, there is very minimal detail on the subject and you cannot see much in the photo because it is too dark. The flash helps to mitigate the darkness to ensure that you have good lighting in a place where lighting may be hard to perfect.
