DESOLATE DETROIT

Detroit has made a lot of progress to build this city into a wonderful place to live. While the main parts of the city flourish, the forgotten parts lay waste out of the public eye. They are left to rot with no one to take care of it. Because of gentrification, red-lining, and other socioeconomic issues, these places I have photographed are the product of these issues. The communities within these places suffer because they continuously get pushed out of the place they once called home. By taking pictures of these places and things, people of Detroit will be more aware of a side of their city they may not want to see. I hope to make my audience feel uncomfortable when they view these photos, so they will understand what is happening to Detroit and be more inclined to help their community with the

fight to rebuild.
